Respite gives the carers of people with disabilities an opportunity to take a break from their support role. Carers can enjoy a break, secure in the knowledge that their loved one is in a secure environment, enjoying a positive experience. This can be planned break or responding to an emergency. Your respite experience may be for a few hours, a few days or extended periods. Respite can mean many different things to each of us.
The Department of Human Services have selected 6 successful tenders in the Eastern Metropolitan Region for the delivery of high quality, innovative respite and carer support with a focus on the needs of people with a disability with high and\or complex needs.
