During school holiday periods, and out of school hours, additional programs and camps provide respite care. Councils, schools, recreation organisations, aquatic centres, libraries and community organisations run these programs.

EAST OUTER MELBOURNE INCLUSION SUPPORT AGENCY

An initiative of the Inclusion and Professional Support Program funded by the Australian Government and provided by local Government. The East Outer Melbourne ISA covers the municipal areas of Knox, Maroondah and Yarra Ranges, under Knox City Council as lead agency in partnership with the Shire of Yarra Ranges.

INCLUSION SUPPORT FACILITATORS (ISF)
ISF’s work directly with eligible childcare services to build their capacity to create an environment inclusive of all children, including those with additional needs, children with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and refugee and recent immigrant backgrounds. Services include occasional care, long day care and family day care, in-home care, as well as after school and vacation care.

Eligibility for Support:
• Children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds including refugee children and Australian South Sea Islander children.
• Children with ongoing high support needs including children with a disability
• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children

Who is it for? For children aged -0 – 12 years, but can include young people up to the age of 18 years attending after school and/or vacation/holiday programs. The program requiring assistance to contact the Inclusion Support Agency for support and / or consultation.

INCLUSION SUPPORT AGENCY – EAST MIDDLE MELBOURNE



The Inclusion and Professional Support Program is funded by the Australian Government. The Inclusion Support Agency, East Middle Melbourne, covers the municipal areas of Boroondara, Manningham, Monash & Whitehorse. The Inclusion Support Agency general website can be accessed at: www.monash.vic.gov.au/services/field-officers.htm. General enquiries can be made by emailing inclusion@monash.vic.gov.au. Requests for support can be made by contacting each municipal office and requesting Inclusion Support Facilitator assistance.

The Program aims to support staff to successfully include children with additional needs into child care services. The services are required to be Commonwealth approved and offer Childcare Benefit to families. Child care services can request support when a child enrols in their centre or when inclusion issues are identified.

INCLUSION SUPPORT FACILITATORS (ISF)
ISF’s work directly with the eligible childcare services when a request is made. The ISF aims to build the services capacity to create an environment inclusive of all children.

INTERCHANGE INNER EAST – RECREATION PROGRAM

Interchange Inner East is a community based not-for-profit organisation which provides planned respite programs that are responsive to the changing needs of families and their children/young adults with disabilities. At present Interchange Inner East provides a range of programs each of which differ to suit individual needs. They are the Host Program, the Recreation Program, the Flexible Family Support Program and the Individual Care Program.

The Recreation Program provides respite to families through regular planned social and recreational group activities for young people. Young people who have a disability are able to experience a variety of community based activities, develop social skills and increase their level of independence.
• Recreation groups are formed taking into consideration the age and abilities of the participants.
• Groups cater to individuals between the ages of 12 – 35.
• Each group has one to three respite care workers, as well as, a pool of volunteers providing support.
• Groups meet at least once a month, usually on a Saturday, for recreational activities. In addition, groups have weekends away during the year.
• School holiday activities and camps for 12 – 18 year olds are run in each of the school holidays for current participants.

Who is it for? People aged 12 – 35 years living in the areas of Boroondara, Manningham, Monash & Whitehorse.

A non-profit, community based organisation which provides support to families who have a child or a young person with a disability.

Outreach is a coordinated program which helps children with disabilities access local community social and recreational programs, including school holiday activities. Children access programs with assistance of a support worker provided by Interchange Outer East.

INTERCHANGE OUTER EAST - SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM

A non-profit, community based organisation which provides support to families who have a child or a young person with a disability.

Camps and day activities are run during school holiday periods. All camps and day activities are managed by the School Holiday Program Coordinator and run by Interchange staff. Volunteers provide 1:1 assistance with personal care and participation in activities.

The School Holiday Program caters for all abilities with specialised camps and activities offered for children with specific needs.

Due to the number of applications, camps and holiday activities are not available to siblings.

SCHOOL HOLIDAY CAMPS are held at various accredited camp sites throughout Victoria, with cabin or dormitory style accommodation (not under canvas). Activities, both on and off site, guarantee a full program of fun and memorable camp experiences for everyone. Camps are generally between 3 and 5 days duration and on average 15 participants, 15 volunteers and 3 staff attend each camp.

SCHOOL HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES are fun, community based activities eg. rollerskating, bowling, swimming, playgrounds, outings to theme parks, the zoo and more.

Who is it for? Children 4 - 18 years living in the areas of Maroondah, Knox and Shire of Yarra Ranges.
Program Hours: 10.00am - 5.00pm, Monday - Friday during the school holidays.

MANNINGHAM ACTIVITIES SPECIAL KIDS (MASK)

MASK is a school holiday program for kids with special needs. It caters for school aged children, living at home with parents / guardians and is divided into 2 groups.

The 5-12 year old group is run from Bulleen Heights School for approx 5 days each holiday period. This program is funded by Manningham City Council, 1st priority is for Manningham residents.

The 13-18 year old group runs at Heatherwood School, this runs everyday of each school holiday period. This program is jointly funded by DHS and Manningham City Council, 1st priority is for EMR residents.

The aim of the program is to provide respite to carers and provide children and young adults with opportunities to meet new friends, develop social skills and access the community in a holiday atmosphere.

Who is it for? Children aged 5 – 18 years.
Program Hours: Monday – Friday during school holidays. Younger Group – 9.00am – 4.45pm. Older Group – 8.00am – 5.45pm

PEOPLE OUTDOORS

People Outdoors is a community based non-profit organisation. We aim to provide "Adventure for All" through various types of programs to enable children, teenagers and adults with disabilities to participate in outdoor adventure programs and camping experiences. We supply trained volunteers (1:1 support care) for all individuals to attend camps and recreational activities along with a program leader who oversees the safety and running of the program.

In the January and July school holidays an "Adventure for All Camp" is run for people living in the Eastern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne with an unpaid carer.

Outer Encounters is an After School and Vacation Care Program which offers an exciting range of recreation and centre based programs for school aged children and teenagers with a disability, living in the Outer Eastern Region of Melbourne.

Working in partnership with Mt Evelyn Special Development School, Villa Maria receives funding from the Australian Government to operate the program which is based at Mt Evelyn.

Activities are age appropriate, fun and challenging, and provide great opportunities to make new friends and explore a variety of activities. Our staff are experienced, enthusiastic, friendly and understanding. We enjoy having fun on our programs, helping participants develop new skills, gain independence, explore and embrace new activities, celebrate achievements and positively engage with peers in the community.

The Leisure Access Program (LAP) is a recreational and social program developed for teenagers and young adults in the Manningham area living with disabilities. Placed into groups (determined by function levels and program suitability), a variety of programs are offered, which are suitable to each particular group's needs and interests whilst also providing respite for parents and carers. Activities are run as either a day program on a Saturday or an evening program on a Wednesday, dependent upon the group. School holiday programs (SHLAP) also offer an opportunity for all the LAP members to get to know each other and socialise with their friends. All groups are fully supervised and supported by qualified and enthusiastic staff during each activity.

Who is it for? Three groups
Red: High needs, challenging behaviour
Green: 12-25 (approx) years old
Rap: Quite independent over 25 year olds
Program Hours: Variable, weekdays during school holidays.
